  • Last year, swimming pool use exceeded 62,000 visits for physical education, swim team practice and meets, swimming lessons, community swim club, and open swimming.

  • Option 1: Build Competition and Community Pools

    Approval would increase the property tax mill rate by no more than $.07, representing an annual tax increase of no more than $7 per year for every $100,000 of property value over the current level.

    Option 2: Build a Competition Pool

    Approval would increase the property tax mill rate by no more than $.04, representing an annual tax increase of no more than $4 per year for every $100,000 of property value over the current level.

    Option 3: Refurbish the Existing Pool

    Approval would increase the property tax mill rate by no more than $.02, representing an annual tax increase of no more than $2 per year for every $100,000 of property value over the current level.

  • Oak Creek Community Education & Recreation (OCR) coordinates the community programming and staffing in the current pool. Participant rates are nominal, with Open and Lap Swim having a fee of $3 per person. Swim lessons are offered for a fee of $48 for an 8-class session. We would anticipate similar fees.

  • We are in the very early conceptual stages of this project; these are renderings, not final drawings. If the Board of Education decides to go to referendum and the referendum passes, the work begins to finalize drawings.

  • If option 1 or 2 is selected, the pool facility would be located in the current staff parking lot between the Ninth Grade Center and the 10-12 building. The addition of a pool facility would allow the two buildings to be connected by an indoor hallway.

  • If option 1 or 2 were selected, the old pool area would become a new weight room facility. The figures for both Options 1 and 2 include the cost of repurposing the area. Current figures do not include the cost of weight-room equipment.

  • The 2018 referendum funding allowed the District to complete the majority of the facility master plan. We’re happy to report all projects were completed on time and under budget. The pool was not part of the 2018 referendum. The only remaining issue in the master plan is deciding if or how to fix the swimming pool.

  • The life span of all three options is 50 years.

  • There are funds allocated toward additional parking if Option 1 or 2 were to be selected. After community input is gathered and the Board has determined which direction to proceed, work on details such as additional parking would begin at that time.
